The 2019 Early Day theme
Prayer is often the missing centrepiece to youth ministry. We all agree on its critical importance, and yet for so many reasons, it’s the one thing we don’t quite manage to prioritise. Both in our own lives as leaders, and in our work with young people, talking to God is so often the thing we don’t quite get around to.
Deep down we all want to be better at this. And this year at the National Youth Ministry Weekend, we’re making some special time to learn how, with one of the best and most experienced communicators on prayer in the world. Pete Greig, the founder of 24-7 Prayer, has devoted his entire life to praying, and helping others to do so. His latest book, 'How to Pray', is intended as a simple guide to developing a real habit of prayer in the midst of our busy lives.
The National Youth Ministry Weekend Early Day will provide both an opportunity to receive powerful, practical teaching on prayer and the space to put some of that teaching into practice. We’ll look at how to embed prayer as a feature of our everyday lives as leaders, and how we can practically integrate more prayer into our work with young people.
We believe in a God of infinite possibilities. Together, let’s learn to ask him to fulfil them.
Who's it for?
The Early Day is for everyone working in ministry with young people. It's the kind of in-depth teaching that you often miss out on because of your busy schedule, whether you're on a church staff team or helping as a volunteer. You'll find the day inspiring and engaging whatever your background and church denomination. The smaller group setting makes it much more engaging and there'll be space to talk to Pete and others throughout the day to help you get the most from the experience.
When and where
The NYMW Early Day takes place on Friday November 15th, right before the main NYMW weekend. It runs from 10am through to 3.30pm.
We've chosen a fantastic and comfortable venue for the day - The Crowne Plaza hotel next to Resorts World, right next to the main NYMW venue. It's the perfect place to spend the day listening, learning and getting inspired. Parking is free.
