Hi,

Since our early days as LCET, we have had along history of taking young people away on life transforming camps. And, over the last four years, we have been doing that on a much larger scale with Satellites. This year promises to be the biggest ever, with over 4000 people on site at Bath and West Showground.

It’s now only five weeks until we’ll be welcoming young people and youth leaders to the fourth Satellites event - ‘Hope & Glory’.

Today, we find ourselves living in a time of global despair. War rages; nations are divided; brutal men hold power. Whilst economies struggle, and the climate crisis sees our environment growing more fragile. What a challenging time to be alive. And what a difficult time to be a teenager!

To be growing up, not just in the shadow of one global problem, but in the overpowering gloom created by many, all at once. To have to navigate our modern world is one thing - but to know you’re tasked with inheriting it, and trying to fix this mess can feel utterly overwhelming.

This year at Satellites, we’re going to uncover the reality of hope, and explore where it can truly be found. Because it’s in moments like these that we realise who Jesus really is, and what His gospel really means.

Jesus is our hope - both for today and for eternity. He makes a way for us to know God, and He’s bigger than any problem - however massive it might seem. He is the light in our darkest hour.

So, we would love you to pray for us, and for the wider Satellites team, as we seek to bring this good news and hope to this wonderful group of young people, and youth workers.

1st (Tue)

Tomorrow is the Satellites Team's Creative Day; where lots of the art work will be being made for the various venues at Satellites. Pray that this will be a fun, creative, & productive day for the team & young people involved.

2nd (Wed)

Today, the latest Youthscape Essentials Deep Dive, (online training), for youth workers is taking place: 'Generation Alpha - Curious, Creative & Pre-Christian'. Exploring how to create youth ministry that'll help young people grow & deepen their faith.

3rd (Thu)

Today the Durham Launchpad Celebration is taking place. Pray for the clergy who've been part of this group - that all they've learned will be useful, & that they'll feel motivated to begin new youth ministry in their churches.

4th (Fri)

The final Luton Unite event of the academic year takes place this evening at Youthscape. Pray this will be a positive end to the year, & that the young people will really enjoy the chance to be together.

5th (Sat)

For young people joining the Alumina waiting list in June, July, & August. They may be desperate to receive support, but will need to wait until September to join a group. Pray that they will be safe, & find other support in the meantime.

6th (Sun)

Pray for our local team: Gemma, Hannah, Emily, Robert, & Abby. For energy at the end of a busy year, as they run the Summer Fun event at Youthscape later this month, & as they take young people to Satellites in August.

7th (Mon)

For Ethan, who works for both Youthscape & the LYCIG, (Leading Your Church into Growth), team. Pray for him as he attends his first residential with other LYCIG staff; that this will be an encouraging time for them all.

8th (Tue)

Please pray for our podcast team - working hard to put out a new episode every week. Pray that the episodes will be relevant, inspired by God, helpful to listeners, & that our audience will grow.

9th (Wed)

This evening, we’re gathering together group leaders who are bringing young people to Satellites for a pre-event Zoom briefing. Please pray that we’ll encourage, equip & envision them ahead of the festival.

10th (Thu)

Pray for Ethan, meeting with LYCIG facilitators to train them to lead a new course. This is a new partnership which'll mean many more churches will be equipped to grow in their understanding of youth ministry & discipleship.

11th (Fri)

Pray for the Headstrong team - as they continue working until the end of July, whilst also preparing for Satellites.

12th (Sat)

Please pray for the team preparing to host the main Satellites sessions, (in which we invite young people to respond to Jesus). The team are meeting today to plan activities, pray that God will inspire them in all they do.

13th (Sun)

Many of our most experienced young people are leaving this term. Pray they enjoy their final week with us, & that we’re able to end things well. Pray too, that they find long term homes in Christian communities.

14th (Mon)

Pray for our Satellites team, Martin, Karen, Rosie, & Lucy - during the incredibly intense & often stressful build up to Satellites, as they sort out hundreds of last minute details for the festival.

15th (Tue)

Pray for the National Church Team, who have their team day today, as they learn & pray together. Pray too for their newest team member - Charlotte; that she'll settle in quickly & feel part of the team before the summer break.

16th (Wed)

The Launchpad Team are visiting Derby & Birmingham to share the vision for Launchpad today. Pray for them as they begin a journey with clergy who may be interested in getting new youth work off the ground in those areas.

17th (Thu)

It's the Drop In Graduation celebration today, please pray for those young people in year 13 - as they leave Youthscape Drop In. They've been with us for a long time & will be moving on to university, jobs etc. Pray that it would be a positive ending for them all.

18th (Fri)

The final Luton Unite One of this term is taking place this evening at Bute Mills. Pray for the young people exploring faith together this evening, many of whom will be coming to Satellites.

19th (Sat)

Pray for the Headstrong team & volunteers - as they finish the Alumina groups for this term. Pray that they'll have a much needed break over the summer holidays.

20th (Sun)

Thank God for funding raised by the Sponsor a Camper scheme, meaning we're able to support many local young people to attend Satellites.

21st (Mon)

Pray for the local team - preparing for the Summer Fun week, pray for wisdom, health & energy as they come to the end of a busy year, ending with summer fun week & Satellites

22nd (Tue)

Pray for the Youthscape Essentials team, leading a workshop, training those who want to host YSE in their own contexts. Pray for the impact of these courses, & that we will see a deepening of faith amongst youth groups across the UK.

23rd (Wed)

Pray that God would provide healing & restoration for young people who have experienced trauma, abuse & hardship in their lives.

24th (Thu)

Pray for us as we prepare a space for youth leaders at Satellites. Pray that this will be a place where they can rest, grow, spend time with God, & meet other youth workers.

25th (Fri)

Thank God for the funding we have received for our work, & for His blessings & provisions for the work that we do.

26th (Sat)

Pray for God's protection over everyone coming to Satellites, & pray for safety at the event too.

27th (Sun)

Please pray for Ellie Limebear & the worship team, as they prepare to lead us in sung worship at Satellites. And pray for young people still deciding whether or not to come to the festival.

28th (Mon)

Our local team are running a Summer Fun Event this week: 3 days of trips & activities for the young people they have worked with this year. Pray for the team, for energy, resilience, & inspiration as they lead the week.

29th (Tue)

Please pray for the young people attending the Summer Fun activities; for their health, for safety, & that they would really enjoy the activities & their time together.

30th (Wed)

Pray for positive relationships to be built during the Summer Fun activities, & that young people will be safe, & enjoy themselves today.

31st (Thu)

There are many families for whom the summer holidays are difficult. Please pray for those who are struggling to cope - for protection and peace.
