Hi,

It’s the last month of the school year! Young people are preparing for the summer break, and many of them will be looking forward to spending time with their family and having a break from their studies. However, some others will be dreading the long break, facing difficulties at home, missing external support and structure.

Thank you for praying for young people over the summer, as well as praying for our Local Team’s Summer Fun Week, and for Satellites - our summer festival.

Our Summer Fun Week will see young people from our Drop In community, and others we have worked with this year, spending time with our Local Team and engaging in a variety of activities.

Then, from 6th - 10th August, over 4000 young people and youth workers will be joining us at the Bath and West Showground for our latest Satellites event, ‘Look Up’:

“Your lives aren’t small,” writes Eugene Peterson in The Message, “but you’re living them in a small way.”

For so many young people, that’s never been more tragically true. Hypnotised by technology, swamped by fear, anxiety and overwhelm, they can retreat into the empty comfort of distraction. Yet their lives were never meant to be like this. If they can only catch a glimpse of the God who made the universe and yet knows them by name, a far greater adventure is still possible.

At Satellites, we want to help young people understand how great and majestic God is. The God who made the stars, and the God who fills the oceans. He’s in every way magnificent. We’re going to wonder at the glory of his creativity and creation; we’re going to gaze in awe at his revelation and redemption in Jesus. Re-engaging our sense of child-like wonder; as we invite young people to embrace a bigger vision for their lives, for the world, and for their view of God.

So, please pray for all of us over the coming few weeks, as we complete our preparations for both the Summer Fun Week, and for Satellites, and for the events too.

1st (Wed)

Pray for the Dioceses of Bristol, Birmingham, Ely & Chelmsford as they have their final Launchpad sessions this month, & support Clergy in their Next Steps Beyond Programme.

2nd (Thu)

Pray for God’s peace, wisdom & for energy for the Satellites team; as they prepare for the festival. And for all the youth leaders preparing to bring their young people to Satellites.

3rd (Fri)

It’s the final Luton Unite event of the academic year this evening. Pray this will be a positive end to the year, & that the young people will really enjoy the chance to be together.

4th (Sat)

Pray for young carers, as they try to balance their role alongside school work, & trying to find time to spend with their friends.

5th (Sun)

Pray for the Satellites team; as they recruit volunteers, run last minute DBS checks, co-ordinate a complex team, as well as organising the festival programme.

6th (Mon)

Thank God for the funds raised by the Sponsor a Camper scheme. Pray that it will provide support for many local young people to attend Satellites.

7th (Tue)

Pray for the Satellites team, for the two new members of staff settling in, and that the whole team will have energy and peace in the run up to the event.

8th (Wed)

Please pray for more volunteers to sign up to be part of the Satellites team! We are low on volunteers, & need about 400 to run the event safely & well.

9th (Thu)

Pray for the YSE hosting workshops today. Pray that the youth leaders attending will grow in skills & confidence - for their work with young people.

10th (Fri)

Pray for Jemimah, attending the Church of England Bishop’s Synod meeting today, as she shares with them the new Confirmation Resource, developed to support young people in their faith.

11th (Sat)

Today’s the LYCIG (Leading Your Church Into Growth) Conference in Manchester. Pray that it helps to equip & encourage the leaders who attend, so they can grow their work with young people.

12th (Sun)

Many of our most experienced young people are leaving this term. Pray they enjoy their final week with us & that we’re able to end things well. Pray too, that they find long term homes in Christian communities.

13th (Mon)

For young people joining the Alumina wait list over the summer. They may be desperate for support, but will need to wait until September to join a group. Pray that they will be safe, & find support in the meantime.

14th (Tue)

Pray for young people around the UK who are struggling. That they will be brave enough to ask for help, & for this to be met with a positive response & meaningful support.

15th (Wed)

Please pray for the final Alumina groups of the school term; that the young people in these groups will thrive, & that they’ll be held in the protection & peace of God.

16th (Thu)

Pray for the Innovation team, as they work out how best to market our resources. So that these items can be widely available for youth workers to use in their work with young people.

17th (Fri)

Pray for the whole Youthscape team; all preparing different things for Satellites, & taking on a wide variety of roles over the event. Pray for our health, & that we’ll have the time & energy to get everything ready.

18th (Sat)

Pray for the Abide Conference today. For the young people involved in leading the event, for other young people attending, & for Abby, Emily & Gemma as they lead the event together.

19th (Sun)

Pray for young people who aren’t sure whether to sign up for Satellites. Pray that they’ll be able to find a group to come with.

20th (Mon)

Our local team are running a Summer Fun Week this week. With trips & activities for young people they’ve worked with this year. Pray for this wonderful team - for energy, resilience, & inspiration.

21st (Tue)

Pray for positive relationships to be built during the Summer Fun activities, & that young people will be safe, & enjoy themselves today.

22nd (Wed)

Please pray for the young people attending the Summer Fun activities: for their health, for safety, & that they will really enjoy the activities & their time together.

23rd (Thu)

Pray for all the contributors who’ll be speaking at Satellites - as they prepare what they will be sharing. Pray they will know God’s wisdom & guidance at this time.

24th (Fri)

Thank God for the funding we have received for our work, & for all His blessings & provisions for the work that we’ve been able to do over the past academic year.

25th (Sat)

Pray that our new Welcome to Volunteering resource will be supportive & encouraging to those who have started volunteering in their churches, as they begin their work with young people.

26th (Sun)

Pray for the Launchpad team, as they spend time this month reviewing the Launchpad materials, as well as working on new resources.

27th (Mon)

Pray for the Diocese of Newcastle as they have their Bishop’s Briefings this month, ready for their new Launchpad cohorts starting in the autumn term.

28th (Tue)

Pray for hope to flood young people’s lives, & meet them wherever they are.

29th (Wed)

Pray for God's protection over everyone coming to Satellites, & pray for safety at the event too.

30th (Thu)

There are many families for whom the summer holidays are really difficult. Please pray for those who are struggling to cope - for protection & peace.

31st (Fri)

Pray for us as we prepare a space for youth leaders at Satellites. Pray that this will be a place where they can rest, grow, spend time with God, & meet other youth workers.
