Join a team

We’re going to need a whole bunch of amazing team members to help us launch Satellites this summer! Could you be one of them?

We’re looking for some hard-working, servant-hearted people who want to enable young people to meet with Jesus, to learn how to keep him at the centre of their lives and to help us make Satellites the best event it can be. There are several different teams to apply for so there should be something to suit everyone’s skill set – from practical to administrative, welcoming people as they arrive to tidying the site up as they leave.

In order to ensure you get the best out of serving, and so that we can make sure all team roles are covered, we’re asking you to select from three wider teams; the site support team, the guest experience team and the kids team. These teams will cover a bunch of roles to help with the smooth running of the event, meaning you may be allocated to a variety of tasks throughout the week based on where your skills can be best used! We’ll ask you some questions in your application that will help us work out where you’re most suited thought if you have a specific role preference, please let us know when you apply. Plus we’re also introducing the 50/50 ticket for 16 and 17 year olds who would like to serve on a team for part of the day and receive a reduced ticket rate for the event.

All Satellites team members will be asked to attend an on-site briefing at 6pm on Monday 8 August, and then expected to serve in shifts from the morning of Tuesday 9 August until midnight on Saturday 13 August. We may call on some volunteers to arrive earlier to help with set up or stay a little later to help us pack down - you can let us know your availability on your application form!

Site support team

This team is ideal for those who are keen to help with the day-to-day running of the event. You’ll need to be a practical person who is great at cracking on and getting through a to-do list. Depending on the specific role you’re assigned, we’re looking for team members who are confident in manual handling, great at managing people, clear at communicating and happy to be outdoors for long periods of time. If this sounds like a bit of you, then we'd love you to apply to join the team!

Roles include: Comms, stewarding, night stewarding, village hosting, first aid, set up/pack down and tech teams

Guest experience team

This team is all about being the “face” of the event, serving on team within our venues to help make the day-to-day programmes flow smoothly. You’ll need to be a people-person who is happy to work directly with our guests to ensure that they have the best time at Satellites. Depending on the specific role you’re assigned, we’ll need you to be great at welcoming people, able to juggle serving food and drinks, good at handling money, a listening ear and great at supporting those who need additional help on site.

Roles include: cafés, hospitality, prayer, sports, detached youth and additional needs teams

Kids team

As well as an epic programme for young people, we’re so excited to be welcoming a whole bunch of under 12s to join in with our kids programme. We need to find a great team to help deliver this content – think you’re up to the task? You’ll need to have solid experience of working with children – either in a professional capacity or serving regularly on the kids team at your church – and we’re particularly looking for some team members who are qualified/experienced working with children with additional needs.

50/50 team

The 50/50 team is for 16-18 year olds only, and is an opportunity for those in their late teens to serve at the event but also attend a good chunk of the main programme. You’ll only need to pay for a half-price ticket (£50) and you’ll cover the other half of the ticket by serving a shorter daily team shift - about four hours each day.

Perks of being on team

We hope that everyone serving on team has a brilliant week – playing their part in making Satellites happen, meeting new people, building solid friendships with the other volunteers and serving young people as they journey with us to explore what it looks like to put God at the centre of everything we do.

The amount of time each team member serves will vary, but you should expect to be on shift for a minimum of 6 hours and maximum of 10 hours each day. In return for your hard work, we’d love to offer you:

  • A free ticket to Satellites
This means you’ll get to participate in the rest of the Satellites programme when you’re not on shift, plus access to all of our awesome venues.

  • Free meals
Fantastic news… we’ll feed you for the week! You’ll just need to let us know if you have any dietary requirements, which you can do when you complete your application form.

  • Free camping
We’ll have a team campsite specifically for those serving the event, so that you can meet other team members and hang out when you’re not serving. Alternatively, if you’re coming along with your church, you’ll be able to camp with your youth group for the week – just let us know your preference when you apply.
Please note: you’ll need to bring your own tent and camping equipment.

  • Access to the team lounge
We’ll be making space for a team lounge where you can relax when you’re not on shift, with free tea and coffee on tap throughout the day

  • Team training
We’ll make sure that you have the best training (both before the event and when you join us at Satellites) to ensure that you’re fully equipped in the role that you are serving on.

Application process

To ensure everyone is safe on site, we have a thorough team application system in place to make sure we can allocate you to the most suitable role whilst serving at Satellites. We’ll ask you some questions in an application form to get to know you a bit, we’ll contact your referee for further information and most teams will also require a DBS check.

We’ve detailed the steps below!

  1. Head to the booking page, create an account and wait for the verification email to reach you. If it doesn't arrive within 10 minutes, please check your junk mail or spam folders

  2. Once you’ve verified your email address, click 'Book now' in the top right corner and follow the steps to book your ticket - make sure to select 'This person would like to join this event as a team volunteer' on your ticket and pick which of the three team categories you want to apply for (site support, guest experience or kids).

  3. Once you've picked which team you're applying for, click create ticket and then follow the steps to finish your booking. You'll need to let us know your on-site contact details, what accommodation you're bringing (you can update this nearer the time!) and your billing address so that we can confirm your booking. There's no charge for team tickets, unless you are 16 or 17 and choosing a 50/50 ticket - in which case you will be invoiced once your team application has been accepted

  4. We’ll then send you an email with a link to your application form. You'll need to complete all of the questions in order to save the form, so please make sure you have everything rea dy before you start. This includes a head and shoulders photo of you for your team badge, and details for two referees

  5. Once you've submitted your application, we’ll contact your referees to ask them a few questions about you (please make sure you’ve let them know in advance that you’ve named them as your referee) and then be in touch with you to confirm if you’ve been provisionally accepted on team

  6. Once provisionally accepted, we’ll then start a DBS check for you – you’ll get an email from us with specific information on how the DBS process works

  7. Once your DBS check has come back clear, we’ll be in touch to confirm your place on team and allocate your role!

If you have any questions about the process, please get in touch with us!
