Course outline

  1. Session one: How boys are different - and how we need to think about helping them to engage / learn
  2. Session two: Presenting a Christian faith that boys find exciting and can relate to
  3. Session three: Key issues for boys and how we can help them to navigate these

Learning outcomes

By the end of the day you will have learned:

  • How to set expectations that boys will live up to, and why this is so crucial
  • Some new ways to explain the Christian faith which may especially connect with boys
  • How to help and challenge boys around key lifestyle issues including friendship, online behaviour and mental health

Presenters

Martin Saunders has been involved in youth work for two decades, and is currently youth minister at St Mary’s Reigate alongside his role as Youthscape’s Director of Innovation. He’s the author of The Man You’re Made to Be (SPCK, 2019).

Matt Allen is Youthscape’s NEET intervention specialist, and has worked with 100s of young males in the course of his five years at Youthscape, many of whom are - or are at risk of being - NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training).
