What's in the bundle?
Third Space Schools Ministry: If you're starting to work in schools and you're looking for something that goes beyond the RE lesson, assemblies, clubs and mentoring, this book is for you. Third Space Schools Ministry introduces a new concept for engaging with teenagers in schools, using creative spaces around school to set up installations and experiences that bring the big questions of life into young people's every day social space. The book contains 5 Third Space ready to-run ideas that explore themes of spirituality and reflection, forgiveness, faith and belief, remembrance and sacrifice. Some of them are designed around specific times in the calendar (Remembrance Day and Advent) while others can be used year-round.
Schools Work Playing Cards: The two sets of playing cards are aimed at two different age groups; secondary school age, and student age (16+) with the focus and wording of the questions modified to suit the intended audience. As a standard set of cards, these are great for playing all the usual games you might play with young people. Start a game with students and let the discussion flow as the questions catch their attention. They can be used in lunch clubs, in one-to-one mentoring, as ice breakers for lessons or sessions, or as an ice-breaker in detached work. Since their launch, the playing cards have become a firm favourite amongst schools workers and more than 8,000 packs have been sold.
Schools Work Art Cards: These Artcards have been created with the help of students are are designed for use in the classroom or youth group.
The images on the Primary Artcards depict 12 common questions often voiced by children about faith in a God. On the reverse is further explanation, questions for the reader to consider and a fun and engaging group work task.
These cards make a fun and useful activity in the classroom to support students exploring key questions within the RE curriculum. They also work well in a more informal setting. Art is able to reach beyond words and give meaning and expression to thoughts, feelings and beliefs that lie within and yet often lie undiscovered, providing deep and meaningful discussion by students.
These art cards come with a free downloadable lesson plan including powerpoint slides.
Rage, Despair & Hope: This downloadable creative resource uses the story of Job to reflect on and explore three common and complex emotions; rage, despair and hope. Si Smith, a renowned UK-based artist, was commissioned to create a series of 22 triptychs to help young people explore these emotions through the story of Job. The resource contains a 29 minute film telling the story of Job through the 22 artwork files with audio commentary. A short creative film of the story of Job made by the Lacey Theatre Company. Individual downloadable files of all the pieces of artwork and audio. Curriculum materials, games & activities needed for single lessons or a series of sessions. Supporting materials including interview with the artist. It's a brilliant resource for RE lessons, assemblies, displays, or creative non-curriculum days.
