Course outline

Six times more children and young people in England have mental health conditions than a generation ago, according to a study published in the journal Psychological Medicine in 2018. With many services stretched to the limit, schools, youth workers and other professionals have a vital part to play in supporting young people’s mental health. This course provides an over view of the latest research and key insights into understanding adolescent mental health and brain development. It will also teach you the skills to recognise the indicators of an underlying mental health issue. You discover practical tools and resources that you can use in the classroom, small groups and working 1:1 with a young person.
