Questions From 16-19 Year Olds

"When I received "Questions From 16-19 Year Olds”, I was super excited as it provides 6 topics young people love to engage in. With the topics it provides lesson ideas and application questions. I am very grateful for this preparation which I can use straight away with my young people I work with across Europe."

Questions From 16-19 Year Olds

More Detail

When prompted, older young people have remarkable and profound questions about faith and what it means to live as a Christian.

Based on her own experience of working in a local Sixth Form College, Lahna Pottle, 16-19s Specialist at SchoolsworkUK, has created a 6 week session plan tackling 6 key questions that 16-19 year olds want to talk about.

The aim of this resource is to open up discussion, encourage listening, and support the students' exploration of faith and worldviews. The key is exploring why they feel or think they way they do, and explore their own influences, bias and beliefs.

The 6 topics covered in the sessions are around faith, disagreements, emotions, sexuality, university and politics. Each session takes around 60 minutes to run but they are flexible enough to adapt to different contexts and time constraints. Every session has an ice-breaker, questions for discussion, reflection including a biblical perspective, and an activity. They have been created for a multi-faith context and are accessible for young people of all faiths and none.

The discussions can be used as part of a one to one session or in a small group setting, and work well both in and outside of school.

Suitable for: Schools workers and chaplains
