Thirtyone:eight and Youthscape have teamed up to create a session-based resource exploring how living the life Jesus called us to goes beyond the words we say.
The resource offers a theology of care through six parables of Jesus, taught over six interactive sessions.
Designed to help youth workers and leaders feel confident in having meaningful, faith-informed conversations with young people about safety, justice, and care.
Our vision is for young people to be given the tools they need to recognise when something isn’t right, the language to express their concerns, and the confidence to speak up for themselves and for others.
We want to teach young people that God wants them to be safe, that their voice matters, and that speaking up is not betrayal, it’s bravery (Proverbs 31: 8 – 9; 2 Timothy 1:7). It reflects the very character of God. This is not a side issue to the Gospel – it’s the very heartbeat of the Kingdom.
When young people are empowered and encouraged to live out these values in their daily life, they are more likely to act with empathy, speak up when something feels wrong, and stand up for those who are vulnerable. Most importantly they are more likely to be safe. Because safeguarding isn’t just something we do, it’s something we live out – together.
What’s in the box?
One leaders guide containing the teaching outline and recommended activities for six sessions.
Eight participant guides to be given to young people to follow along with the session and complete as they go.
Recommended for use with young people aged 12 – 17, this resource uses Jesus’ teachings through parables to highlight some of the values of God’s kingdom. These stories are accessible, memorable, and deeply challenging. Many of them feature vulnerable people at their heart: the poor, the outcast, the wounded, and show them being treated with dignity and compassion. They reveal a kingdom where mercy triumphs over judgment, and where love is shown through action. By studying the parables, young people can gain a clearer picture of what God is like and what He calls us to be.
Additional participants guides can be purchased separately in packs of 5.
