How AI might shape young people’s faith
Tuesday 2nd June
7pm
Gareth Cheesman helps us look afresh at young peoples’ engagement with AI and its impact on their faith.
AI might excite or terrify us, or more likely something in between. So how should we feel about young peoples' adoption of AI in everyday life... and particularly considering the way it might shape their faith? Do we experience AI in a similar way to young people? Or do they have a unique perspective we should pay attention to? Is AI replacing the youth leader role? Providing more opportunities for them to engage with the Bible? And should we even be using it to write our programmes?
Gareth will open up new thinking for us in how we can help and understand young people and their engagement in AI and especially the impact AI can have on faith. Join us for this unique YSE Deep Dive where research, skills and character all come to the forefront as we consider our own context for youth ministry.

Gareth works as a freelance speaker, originally training in Christian youth work 15 years ago he was introduced to the topic of relationships and sex education. One of his first specialist topics was teaching about naked picture sharing, when camera phones started becoming mainstream. Since then he has always been looking at both the opportunities and challenges of emerging technology. Given half a chance he will take any opportunity to spend an afternoon discussing the latest technology or sexual health research over coffee and cake.
