More Detail
Born out of the Translating God research, Troubling Jesus, Reading with God is a new way to open the Bible with young people.
Reading with God offers four session that enable young people to read Scripture for themselves, ask big questions and comment freely on what they think the passage is about.
1. Reading
This session facilitates an open reading of the passage where you, the youth leader, sit back and allow the young people to voice their real and authentic reactions to the passage.
2. Learning
The second session gives you the opportunity to introduce some context, to help young people understand a bit more about the culture and the societal roles that existed when the passage was written.
3. Encounter
The third session uses imaginative prayer to help young people visualise what it would have been like to have experienced the events of the passage firsthand.
4. Response
The final session gives the young people an opportunity to think through what their active response to the passage will be – whether that’s in prayer, in mission, in generosity, or creatively.
Ideal for youth groups of all sizes, Reading with God aims to equip conversations around Scripture and give young people the confidence to explore it for themselves.
