Hearing about how God moved in the lives of those who attend Satellites is the real gold and, ultimately, what the event is all about. So, let's first hear from our amazing volunteers!
At the Centre for Research, we are tasked with analysing the results of the feedback surveys from our three Satellites groups: volunteers, youth workers, and young people. As a result, we have the real honour of being able to read the testimonies of every individual who took the time to provide feedback about the event. We wanted to make sure some (because we wouldn't have space for them all!) of these are heard and don't just remain in a survey for us to see here at Youthscape. So, over the next three blogs, we are going to be highlighting some of these testimonies, starting with our wonderful volunteers!
This year we collected testimonies from 37 volunteers (the survey was completed by 64 individuals) and we were amazed to see the impact that Satellites had on them. It was so encouraging to be able to see that way in which Satellites had not only impacted the volunteers by being able to witness thousands of young people hear about Jesus and have encounters of their own but that it also gave them the space to deepen their own relationships with God and have transformational moments amongst all the busyness of serving at a youth festival!
So, without further ado, we asked 'we’d love to hear any stories of what you saw God doing over the week, whether they feel big or small…' and volunteers said:
“Seeing the young people come together to worship was amazing. Gods clearly working in that generation”
“I feel much closer to God I think. Being in the main meetings with so many other young people has been eye opening and amazing. The best bit was definitely the worship with the band, it made me cry in a good way!”
The best thing about volunteering was “feeling useful in a nurturing, kingdom growing environment, and working with fun, kind and gifted people”
"I heard some positive words spoken between people who didn't know each other which was really nice and slightly unusual in our society. Also young people sharing about things that they're struggling with. And I heard of one youth group praying about the far right rioting in the country"
"During communion seeing young peoples faces light up knowing they are loved by our Heavenly Father"
"The team radiate love and have a way of making everyone feel completely welcomed. After my second time at Satellites I was meeting up with people that I knew and also people I didn’t but every single person went out of their way to talk to me and make me feel like I was part of the team. That is something I have only ever come across when God is at the centre and he truly was, for both team and delegates"
And, here are some of our amazing volunteers hard at work:
These testimonies speak for themselves - there's nothing else we need to say other than thank you to all the Satellites 2024 volunteers!
If this has inspired you to consider volunteering for 2025, you can sign up to apply here.
We hope to see you next year and be reading one of your testimonies!
