Your child has been selected by their school to receive the opportunity to take part in Youthscape’s ‘Compass’ course. This will happen over six Tuesdays at the Youthscape building between 28th September and 9th November 2021. You will have received further information in your Parent Pack.
‘Compass’ is designed to help students re-engage with their education and grow in determination, resilience and aspiration. Through taking part in ‘Compass' students will feel empowered to take responsibility for their lives and to set and reach positive goals, which will help them do well at GCSE level and beyond. Our programme includes both formal teaching and off-site experiential learning as well as a one night residential, giving young people the opportunity to learn both within and outside of classroom settings.
During each ‘Compass' session the young people will explore different themes that develop a range of skills. These themes are: Commitment, Character, Community, Communication, Cause and Courage.
Due to current Covid-19 government guidelines for youth work all staff and young people will also be required to adhere to certain restrictions throughout the ‘Compass’ programme. These are:
- All staff and young people will need to take a lateral flow test the day before they are due to attend ‘Compass’ each week, and if it is positive are to remain at home and take a PCR test
- All staff and young people will need to follow social distancing guidelines
- All staff and young people will need to follow thorough hygiene procedures
Face coverings are no longer required, however if your child would like to wear one throughout the programme they may do so.
In order for your child to take part in this course we need you to complete the below consent form. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Gemma Milligan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
